When There is a Need for a Decorating Intervention
Posted by: admin In: Decorator Choice
I was recently asked to consult on the décor of a new hotel’s lounge area. It was not until nearly everything was already in place that I received the call. I imagine that those in charge of preparing the hotel hit a point of concern with the designers they had employed to decorate the space, and I was the going to be the emergency brigade if there turned out to be a need for one.
Upon arrival to the new boutique hotel, I was shown around the entire building prior to being ushered to the lounge. The idea was to let me get a feel for the image the organization was attempting to establish. Then, I was expected to view the lounge and determine whether or not the plan for it was inspired, or just tired. It can been broached that the room seemed too dated for the rest of the setting.
Though it was not in my interest to say so, I could tell that once all of the pieces were in place the area would be very appropriate, and in some ways even inspired. Unfortunately something had lead the directors of the project to believe that the finished product would be lacking, and they were unwilling to let things reach that point. Their idea to take measures to intervene if necessary was a prudent one, but in this case it turns out they were in good hands all along.
